The master program M.Sc. Economics is a two-year full-time program that combines application and research oriented courses and has a special emphasis on empirical methods. In addition to a thorough training in economic theory and econometrics, you can - depending on your specialization - attend a varying number of courses offered, e.g., by the Business Department, the Political Science Department or the Sociology Department. For the specialization beginning in the second semester you can choose among the following five options: European Political Economy The specialization European Political Economy is directed towards students who want to deepen their knowledge of the economic aspects of European Integration and the design of economic policy in the European Union (EU) and its Member States. European Labour Markets and Innovation Economic questions at the junction of economics, especially Labour Economics, and Business Administration European Finance Provides deeper knowledge in Economics as well as Finance European Social Security and Health Systems This specialization is directed towards students who are interested in the economics of the social state (e.g., pensions, welfare, taxation) and has a special focus on the economics of the health care sector. Empirical Analysis Focuses on the teaching and application of empirical and analytical methods. Обучение на уровне бакалавра и магистра сосредоточено на основных предметах делового администрирования, экономики и социологии, а также на математике, информатике и бизнес-информатике.
Требования к поступающим на программу обучения "Магистерская Программа по Экономике"
Language requirements
Applicants have to prove their language proficiency in English by one of the following tests which should have been taken within the last three years:
- TOEFL (Code 9208): at least 215 points (computer based) or 550 points (paper based) or 80 points (internet based)
- Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
- IELTS (at least 6.0 points)
Equivalent to one of the aforementioned tests is proof of:
- Native speaker
- Two years full time study of a completely in English taught study program within the last two years
- At least 6 school years of English in secondary education and at least 5 points in English at "Abitur" level (only Germany & Luxembourg)

- Request for Enrolment (once you have completed your online registration in PORTA, you will be able to print out a PDF document which is called “Request for Enrolment”)Official Certification
- Officially certified copies (with translations in German or English) of:
• your University Entrance Qualification (certificate of qualification for enrolling at an university) including subject and grade overview
• previously obtained degrees (Master, Bachelor, etc.) and its related Transcript of Records - Proof of English language skills
- Copy of your Identity Card or Passport (uncertified)
- Proof of payment for the processing fee of 50 Euros
- Chinese, Vietnamese and Mongolian applicants have to submit an APS Certificate

The acceptance rate is not set in advance, but is determined by how many applicants fulfill the admission requirements. In the last term, 25 of 75 international applicants have been accepted and began their studies in Trier.
